Financial Support as a Care Leaver from the Leaving Care Service
We will try and help you financially if you are eligible for this financial support in a similar way to how parents would support their own children. Our help includes:-
If you are over 18, your personal advisor will help you to find suitable accommodation. This might involve
Education and Training
Your PA can try and help you to have opportunities within the council for example if you require work experience or a placement for your university you may want support with an apprenticeship this is something we may be able to support you with.
You may want to work for the council and if there is a job advertised that matches your skills then your PA can help you to apply for this job.
Employment and Benefits

We want you to succeed in your employment so we may be able to help you purchase essential work clothing as a support to you when you first start work, we may support you to buy tools and equipment essential to your first job, please speak to your PA about this.
We may support you with transport costs when travelling to job interviews or as part of an apprenticeship
Your PA will support you to work with the staff at the Job Centre to support you with your benefit claim if you are unable to work.
Your PA will also help you to find suitable employment if you are struggling and can offer advice and guidance and has local links to help you.
